Worldwide Payment Systems (WPS)

For commission handling services myfidelio.net decided to partner with a third party company that will provide central commission payment services to all myfidelio.net customers that are interested in signing up. This company is Worldwide Payment Systems (WPS).

WPS is a leading data and payment processing company specialized in the payments of travel agencies commissions, based in Spain. WPS offers a global solution for  payments with multilingual capability. WPS processes data and payments for any travel agency or company within the travel industry (CRS routed and non-CRS routed).

Hotels using WPS automatically join the WCMS programme, since WPS will feed the system with all the necessary information to keep the worldwide travel agencies community informed about the status of their payments. This is an additional benefit of the solution.

The key benefits of the service are:

  • Weekly payments to travel agents
  • Personalized payments to travel agencies: currency, method of payments, holding of payments until they reach a minimum amount, way of receiving the payment details, etc.
  • 80 per cent of the payments, in value terms, processed by WPS are executed via electronic transactions guaranteeing security, transparency and efficiency.
  • WPS Network is a portal for on line information permanently updated to control and track the status of your payments. This portal is also available for the recipients of the payments.
  • Reporting capabilities including personalized reports.
  • Reconciliation tools for travel agencies, among them the DIG that allows them to obtain tailor made reports to have the reconciliation automatically done in their own back office.

Today, WPS works with more than 140.000 entities within the travel industry among them: Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Design Hotels, NH Hotels, Louvre Hotels, Small Luxury Hotels, Luxury Life Style, Luxe Worldwide Hotels, Great Hotels of the World, Thon Hotels, Travel Click/iHotelier, Exclusive Hotels, Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts, Tokyu Group, etc.

WPS recently launched together with Amadeus a programme for commission payment tracking for the travel agents, it is called Worldwide Commission Management System (WCMS). The WCMS is a global platform that will allow any travel agency worldwide, booking through Amadeus, to track the status of their commission payments. This tool will create additional confidence in the direct payment business model for both hotels and travel agencies.

How is the process whereby the hotel will authorise the payment of commissions to WPS - There are basically two options:

  • WPS Network portal

Every month, myfidelio.net will send an export file to WPS with the reservations made by the hotel with arrivals in the prior month. Example: Export file in July will contain all reservations with arrival date in June. WPS will import this file into their WPS Network portal. The hotels subscribing to the services will have access to the WPS Network and be able to check the reservations and authorise the commission payment. In addition, hotels can add reservations that were not made via myfidelio.net.net into the WPS Network, so that also the commission for those reservations can be paid.

  • File from the PMS

If the hotel is using a TAP or Opera_Comm Module, the file from the PMS can be sent to WPS directly for commission payment and the hotel does not need to use the WPS network. WPS will pay the commissions on behalf of the hotel and invoice the hotel back.

In addition, in both cases, the status of the commission payment will be made available via WPS network to all travel agents. The travel agencies will know that the commissions are being processed and the confidence in the relationship with the hotel will grow, contributing for more reservations.

Distribution with your own hotel website

myfidelio.net allows to interact between hotel’s own websites and the application logic of the Opera Reservation System. By doing so, hotel customers make their own website a real sales portal. Management and control of hotel inventory is done only in one place.

The myfidelio.net distribution via hotel’s own website comes with two distinct options:

  • mylink offers a pre-designed User Interface in form of an "out-of-the box solution”.
  • mywebsite allows the hotel and its web agency to develop an own private booking engine, based on Opera Web Suite (OWS) Web Services , with complete flexibility in design and integration of the booking engine on hotel’s website.

Distribution with online travel agencies (ADS)

Under the label mypartner myfidelio.net offers Internet distribution to online travel agencies and travel or destination portals. These websites can be:

  • either directly connected via web services, identified in myfidelio.net by channel type “web”,
  • or connected via Pegasus switch under channel type “ADS”.

As such, hotels using myfidelio.net for distribution have the option to distribute their hotel inventory, rates (public and negotiated) and hotel information to all websites that are powered by the Pegasus’ switch and also can distribute to all online travel agencies and websites that are directly connected to myfidelio.net.

Distribution with traditional travel agencies via GDS

Global Distribution Systems (GDS) are used by the international travel agency community to process travel-related bookings, which include hotel reservations. The myfidelio.net application (ORS) works with a dedicated interface to a switch company linking to all four major GDS. Through this interface hotels are linked to more than 500,000 travel agency terminals worldwide. myfidelio.net distributes to the GDS via Pegasus UltraSwitch.

The myfidelio.net generic GDS code is IQ. This code is mainly used by independent hotels or small hotel groups and represents these hotel customers in all major GDS. In addition, myfidelio.net maintains private label GDS codes in all major GDS for its chain customers.

As a standard, myfidelio.net offers GDS connectivity in the highest technology level available on the market, which is today generally known as “Next Generation Seamless” (NGS) and allows the travel agent to get accurate information from the hotel central reservation system during the entire booking process.

Integration with Micros-Fidelio PMS

A key feature of the myfidelio.net application is its ability to create a single image inventory environment for each property that can be easily managed and presented to all sales channels.

All Micros Fidelio hotel solutions can be integrated with the myfidelio.net application. Standard interface technology makes it possible to combine all Micros Fidelio property management system applications with central reservations and distribution platforms worldwide.

The unique myfidelio connector combines different underlying technologies and offers the same two-way functionalities (upload, download) for all Micros Fidelio PMS products. This includes Opera PMS (stand alone, multi property and express version), but also integration with all Micros Fidelio legacy PMS products (version 6 and 7 and the new PMS version 8) is guaranteed:

  • The data downloading functions include: reservations, profiles (as part of the reservation), allotments, rates (new rates and updated rates), and restrictions.
  • The data uploading functions include: allotments, rates (new rates and updated rates), restrictions, availability (inventory messages), and status messages (from the PMS on reception of data from myfidelio.net).
